Laluna
Laluna Details
Location
Overlooking a golden sandy beach, Lalauna is a discreet hideaway quietly nestled on ten acres of untouched land on the southwest tip of Grenada. Although totally secluded, the property is a ten-minute drive from the airport and the island's capital St.George's. This barefoot luxury bolt-hole offers a fusion of Balinese, Italian and Caribbean charm in a very stylish setting.
Transfer time - 10 minutes Point Salines International Airport
Rooms
There are 16 cottage-style suites at Laluna, scattered among the hillside. Each suite has its own private veranda and plunge pool, surrounded by mature tropical gardens. They are all designed in a tasteful open-plan style to take advantage of the panoramic view of the ocean. The bedrooms, featuring plush king sized beds, open out onto an expansive veranda, framed in a natural cotton fabric that serves as an indoor/outdoor living room. The bathrooms are partially exposed to the natural environment, with the ocean as a natural backdrop. Throughout, traditional Caribbean materials are combined in a minimalist style with chic Indonesian elements to create a warm natural space, perfect for relaxing in.
Food
Laluna's restaurant opens directly onto the beach, offering guests a private view of the bay. With a seating capacity for only 48 diners, and a thatched roof, it feels deliciously intimate. Their Italian chef Daniele Gaetano blends Italian products with fresh local ingredients to create tasty, ecologically-friendly meals. There is also a raw food menu featuring produce straight from their organic vegetable garden. Dining is flexible and easy with various options to suit different moods and tastes and the chef is happy to customise the menu to match individual requirements. The lack of fixed dining times means that the luxury of not having to clock-watch is yours for the taking...
Fitness and Daily Activities
Yoga takes centre stage at Laluna, with a stunning yoga pavilion, set directly on the beach, offering daily classes in Yin, Kundalini or Vinyasa. And despite having the vast ocean and lengthy beaches to play with, there is also a small fitness room with a treadmill, stationary bike, weight machine, free weights and mini-step machine for those who feel motivated by a gym environment.
Other activities
For a change from seawater, there is a freshwater pool located directly on the beach. There are also a range of complimentary activities including use of mountain bikes, snorkel equipment, hobie-cats and kayaks. The resort is also able to arrange a variety of other excursions, including island eco-tours, car and moped rentals, scuba diving, sailing trips and golf.Insider Tips
- Try the crab linguine, it's divine...
- Head to the Sunset Bar to recapture the day. It's super comfortable with day bed's and sofas and of course faces west for maximum 'sunset appreciation'.
Holiday insider tips
Wellness Approach
- Laluna's purpose is to help individuals acquire a sense of wellbeing through continuous learning and rebalancing. The team offer an overall holistic approach designed to incorporate the mind, body and spirit, not just the exterior physique. From the yoga pavilion on the beach, run by international instructors offering daily sessions of yoga and Pilates, to the organic garden used by the chef to create his daily specials with fresh ingredients, and the Asian spa, with Indonesian therapists using products handmade in Bali and Italy, Laluna builds a personalised 360-degree experience for every guest.
Spa
- The Asian Spa features two treatment rooms that can be converted into a single room for a romantic couples massage, along with a Tatami room with hand-woven wall furnishings that allows the massage to be carried out on the floor, enabling more stretching and greater foot pressure, skilfully using the therapist's own body weight. The wet room has a Vichy shower, which gives the sensation of rain and is used between mud applications and massages. Since Laluna takes a lot of inspiration from Italy as well as Bali, as well as offering handmade Balinese products, they have partnered with 'Comfort Zone', an Italian leader in the Spa product sector, to create their own unique Laluna products that reflect their origins of the Mediterranean. The treatment rooms are designed to bring nature indoors and are enveloped by surrounding greenery, so that nourishing treatments and exceptional care can create a sense of long-lasting peace.
Signature Treatment
Balinese Massage This traditional massage combines stretching, rolling, kneading strokes plus thumb and palm pressure, to relieve tension, improve blood flow and rejuvenate, strengthen, renew and heal the body.
We Love
- In addition to Italian and Balinese spa products, the Laluna team also create their own homemade spa products, mixed from natural local ingredients a mere 30 minutes before the treatment. Options include nutmeg, cinnamon scrub and Jasmine and frangipani massage oils.
- The tranquillity pavilion with a tea bar and a small book collection dedicated to health, wellness and eastern philosophy, perfect for both expanding knowledge and relaxing in!
- The fact that there are almost no fixed mealtimes; it's up to you, if you prefer breakfast in the afternoon, they will happily oblige... how's that for relaxed?
Return on Investment
Relaxed, with a sense of having discovered and explored the spice island of Grenada.
