Nove Lazne

Nove Lazne Details

Location

Located next to the German border, in what once Bohemia, is the lovely historical spa town of Marianske Lazne, otherwise known as Marienbad, perched up on a high wooded valley. The  Nove Lazne is a beautiful, stately hotel – possibly the most architecturally astounding building in the town - first built in 1899 and famousy houses the Royal Cabin where Edward VII took his curative thermal baths!

Transfer Time -  90 minutes from Prague Airport

Rooms

There are 97 rooms ranging from Superior to Suites.  We recommend the park view Junior Suites that were the original treatment rooms of the hotel and have lovely Edwardian features such as huge bay windows and Edwardian tiles.  All rooms have mod cons such as satellite tv and internet connection.

Food

The Royal restaurant serves Czech and international cuisine but there is also the option of dietary meals based on your specific needs.  For example, there is a Low Cholesterol Diet, a Reduction Diet where you have a total of 1200 calories a day made up of 5 separate daily meals and even a Diabetic Diet.  If you do want a specific diet, we recommend taking the full board option otherwise you won't reap the benefits.  For those who want the odd treat, the Vienesse cafe is a must with the largest selection of Vienesse pastries and coffee in the spa town.  Naughty but very tasty!

Fitness and Daily Activities

Marienbad is in a protected area with marked nature trails that can be used not just for hiking but also cycling and in winter cross country skiing. For more vigorous walking work out, try the Nordic Walking  which is very popular in the area. For golf lovers, you can play a round on the 100 year old historical Royal Golf Course, inaugurated by Edward VII.  There are 7 tennis courts, 2 of them covered, squash courts and a gym.

Other activities

Marienbad is known as a cultural town and during the traditional spa season (Apr -Oct) there are a number of cultural events such as open air classical and jazz music concerts going on.  Just ask us and we will be happy to give you an idea of events taking place when you want to visit.  There is yatching at the 60 hectare Royal Pond close by and horse riding for beginners and also more experienced riders can be arranged.

Insider Tips

  • Although the spa is fantastic the treatments are quite clinical so don't expect zen like luxury
  • Edward VII had his own Royal Cabin thermal bath which is still in use today
  • From May until October, visit the ‘Singing Foundation’ which operates every odd hour
  • Follow one of the ‘nature trails’ for fascinating views.

Holiday insider tips

Wellness Approach

  • A traditional mineral spa with a grand history, a favourite for its "mysterious healing powers" by Kind Edward VII. Nowadays we know that the the spa is special because of the unique natural sources that are found there - mineral springs, peat and medicinal Maria's gas. It all sounds rather complex and medical but simply put the water is so high in mineral content that it is extremely good for you to bathe in and also drink. Maria's gas is actually natural CO2 gas that comes directly from a spring and is usually applied in the form of gas baths.

Freestyle Spa

  • Impressive Roman Bath Complex Includes 3 mineral water pools with massage jets, jacuzzi, Finnish sauna, sanarium, steam bath, Kneipp pools, relaxation room.

Signature Treatment

Mineral Bath in Royal Cabin with Dry Wrap. A warm mineral bath from the natural spring source, rich with Carbon Dioxide, mineral salts and humic acids.  The Carbon Dioxide is absorbed by the skin and increases blood circulation and improves the function of the heart and kidneys. Also hugely stress relieving.  After a soak for 20 minutes you are wrapped and allowed to rest for another 20 minutes.

We Love

  • The historical feel of the spa.  It's like stepping back in time to take advantage of simple spa procedures that use the earth's natural resources and that are as beneficial, if not more so than some of the more modern type treatments.
  • The Inhalation treatments where the mineral water is inhaled through snorkel like apparatus that you put in your mouth to help clear any respiratory infections, sinus and catarrh problems.  So much better than taking a Sinutab!

Return on Investment

Rested and Tension free.
