Yogic detoxification uses different yoga cleansing techniques, called shatkriyas, to detox the whole body in a very natural and effective way. Methods like nasal and stomach cleansing with himalayan salts cleanse the system, while pranayama (yogic breathing techniques) and asanas (yogic postures) are combined with meditation and a special yogic/ayuverdic diet in order to purify the body from toxins and achieve harmony.

Ananda in the Himalayas
Ananda in the Himalayas Details
Location
Situated in the Himalayan foothills, close to city of Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga. With views of the Ganges and the surrounding forests, the location is magical and definitely worth the journey from Delhi. You can get there by air, train and car but the car journey takes 7 - 8 hours so we recommend taking a convenient connecting flight or experiencing the famous Indian Rail Service.
Transfer Time - 2 hours by air and car or 5 hours by train and car.
Rooms
All 75 rooms have balconies and overlook the palace or valley. We recommend taking the valley view rooms for a small supplement as the spectacular views will enhance your relaxed state. If space and privacy is important to you, splash out on one of the 3 suites which have their own sitting rooms and private gardens or choose one of the brand new villas with their own private pools and saunas.
Food
All our Ananda holidays include a Wellness Consultation where you will find out about your personal Ayurvedic body type. Your diet will be customised to suit your body type and your meals will include ingredients, herbs and spices to optimise your health and help get your body in balance. For example, if you are prescribed as having a Pitta body type (fire & water), your diet will consist of cool and heavy food with strong flavours to calm down the fire and balance the elements. It is a whole fascinating science and you will be amazed with the positive results to your wellbeing. Don't expect just Indian flavours, the choices are Western as well as Asian and will suit all tastes. There is a sharing table at dinner for those travelling alone.
Fitness and Daily Activities
The daily activities focus on the ancient disciplines of yoga and meditation to achieve the balance of mind, body and spirit, but also include other Western activities such as fitness classes. Start your day with a nature walk and take in the beauty of the area followed by the regular morning yoga class. Experience acqua yoga, sit in on the lectures that explain the science of Ayurveda, take part in a golfing skills workshop, attend a fitness class. There are enough free daily activities to immerse yourself in a true wellness experience. A weekly activity schedule will be put in your room - just take your pick!
Other activities
The chef holds a weekly cookery class to pass on practical skills on Ayurvedic and healthy cooking. A cultural evening is held once a week at the amphitheatre where local children will entertain you. There is a 9 hole golf course, billiards room and trips and treks can be arranged to local temples and beauty spots.

Holiday reviews and comments
By Mel
We had a lovely time in the himalayas !
The food was really good and the staff at the hotel were a cut above, really friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
The treatments were all fabulous!
The only down side was ..it was abit cooler than we had expected during the day ( they provided hot water bottles at night which were a very welcome addition to the turn down service !!)
We enjoyed the treks, although one of them had an hour and a half drive to get to the beginning which seemed a bit excessive ( those winding mountain roads are not good for car sickness suferers !)
All in all the week was a perfect relaxing break !
