Longevity Wellness Resort Details

Location

Opened in April 2010 and nestled in the green mountains of Monchique, Longevity Wellness Resort enjoys breathtaking views over Portugal’s charming Algarve. The resort’s location in a protected nature reserve makes it ideal for a healthy break. Think long deep breaths of eucalyptus-scented fresh air and stunning views of nature. A short walk away is a 2000 year old thermal village which dates back to the beginning of wellbeing. The baths are still in operation and maintain their quaintness (ask the folks at Longevity if you would like to experience them). A ten minute drive away is the eclectic Monchique village filled with traditional Algarvian architechture. Top rated golf courses, the stunning and sweeping sandy Alvor and Rocha Beaches, and supermarkets and shops are all under 20 minutes away.

Rooms

There are a total of 195 light and spacious suites, all with stunning views over the Algarve mountains. Each suite has a separate bedroom, living room, incorporating a kitchenette and 2 bathrooms (one with shower and one with a bath/shower). The kitchenette has a fridge, microwave, kettle etc. so you can stock up on your own refreshments and snacks if you want to. Each suite has a balcony. All the suites have two flat screen satellite TVs with pay for film options (although this is chargeable and a bit pricey).

Food

The restaurant is beautifully designed with an outside and inside dining area. We recommend eating outside if the weather allows as the views are superb. The menus have been put together by Portugese celebrity chef Olivier in conjunction with the doctors and nutritionist to combine healthy eating and gastronomic excellence. Ingredients are locally sourced and seasonal. You can also get healthy snacks and drinks as well the odd therapeutic glass of wine at the bar/games room with the best views of the resort, the cyber cafe where you can surf or pick a book from the library to read or the poolside bar (open seasonally). 

Fitness and Daily Activities

The Longevity Vitality Weekly plan varies slightly each week but offers complimentary holistic activities ranging from daily energetic morning mountain hikes to Pilates, yoga, breathing sessions, water-fitness and even healthy cooking workshops.

Other Activities

Activities in addition to the weekly Vitality plan that can be arranged include dance classes, mountain biling, horseriding, tours to sightseeing highlights, beach trips and even painting classes. 

Wellness Approach

• Longevity Wellness Resort's specialism is preventative healthy ageing although it is also the perfect place for relaxation with some lovely treatments if you don't want a full on health programme.  The medical element is overseen by the famous French Doctor Claude Chauchard, one of the world's top specialists in Preventative Medicine and Ageing Management and founder of the famous La Clinique de Paris. The health and vitality programmes are very thorough with a full medical evaluation and usually a biochemical analysis including blood and urine analysis. The test results will be presented to you during your stay and integrated into your personal plan which can include anything from breathing and stress management sessions right through to intravenous vitamin cocktails to boost vitality and energy levels. State of the art beauty treatments are also offered under the principle that looking good complements an optimum state of health

Freestyle Spa

• There is a sauna, steam room, "sensation showers" and a lovely relaxation area which are available to use at any time if you are on a health programme and pre and post treatments if you are not.  There is also an indoor pool as well as beautifully designed outdoor pools.

Signature Treatment

Integral Skin Rejuvenation with Microneedle Therapy.  Thisis a brand new concept developed by the Portugese leading anti ageing specialist Dr Boavida.  The platelet rich plasma is extracted from your blood and used through the medical micro needling technique (not painful)  to bring about impressive results in improving skin texture, restoring skin tightness, smooth wrinkles& lines and softens minor scars.

• The freshly pressed cocktail juices served at breakfast with interesting combinations such as melon and coriander. 
• The morning hikes with the guide who is very knowledgeable on the local flora and fauna and also gives you a good workout.
