The use of cars are restricted but bicycles, electric buggies or even horses are readily available for hire, as well as public transport services just a few metres away from the main entrance.

Transfer Time -  20 minutes from Budapest Airport

Rooms

There are 164 rooms, all with balconies overlooking the Danube or Margaret Island.  Rooms are comfortable and a good size with an old world European feel.  Some may find them slightly dated but they fit in with the overall feel of the place.

Food

The food options are varied but the Hungarian dishes, although very tasty can be quite heavy.  If you are not on a strict regime, we do recommend treating yourself to a yummy afternoon pastry.  For the more health conscious there is a Healthy Choice Menu where lighter meals and snacks are available.

Fitness and Daily Activities

The impressive Danubius Premier Centre has a very good gym with qualified personal trainers available for private sessions at a very reasonable cost. There are a selection of free daily classes, some of which are taught in English - Aerobic, spinning, stretching, step, yoga, aqua fitness and Pilates. If you don't want to work so hard on your health, take a soak in one of the hugely therapeutic thermal pools!

Other activities

Go for a walk or jog along the paths on Margaret Island or hire a bike and take a leisurely ride around the island.  There are tennis courts if you fancy a game.

Insider Tips

Holiday insider tips

Wellness Approach

  • Natural springs on the Island provide the mineral rich thermal water that is used in most treatments. Water enters the spa at 70oC and is then cooled keeping its unique mineral content and curative properties. Famous for its healing effects on conditions such as joint and muscle problems you will find a more medical approach with treatments overseen by Doctors however it is aslo a great tonic for those needing to relax and de-stress.

Freestyle Spa

  • Benefits of thermal waters are cummulative, so with unlimited access to 3 thermal pools which differ in temperature and concentration of minerals you are recommended to do a daily circuit of soaking, interspersed with stimulating dips in the cold Kneipp footpath, use of saunas and steam rooms.

Signature Treatment

Carbon Dioxide Bath: Lie back in a warm bath of thermal water saturated with carbon dioxide gas which covers your skin in thousands of tiny bubbles. This high concentration of carbon dioxide is absorbed into the body which reduces blood pressure and calms the nervous system.  Enjoy the tingling feeling and deep sense of relaxation.

We Love

  • Kneipp treatments: Based on the principles discovered by Sebastian Kneipp (a 19th century priest) by using alternating hot and cold pouring, wraps, jets you can stimulate the nervous system.  It may sound torcherous but the resulting boost to your immune system, treatment of sleep problems and re-energising effect will keep you coming back for more.
  • Mud Packs: The fresh mud comes from a thermal spring pool in Western Hungary so is rich in minerals and is applied to the skin at a temperature of around 40oC.  The effect of the hot mud is extremely relaxing to the muscles and improves the blood circulation of the whole body. It feels very squelchy but leaves your skin ultra smooth.

Return on Investment

Glowing & renewed, at a great price for the budget-conscious.

We have had the most amazing time.  The Thermal Hotel on Margaret Island is excellent.  We had a great room, thank you, and excellent marvellous service from the majority of the staff.  I have told the front of house Manager Frank that his courtesy and helpfulness and that of his staff on the desk was second to none.  The breakfast for those of us on the 8th and 9th floor was served up in the executive dining room and the girl who was responsible for that and also lunches by the pool was superb.  A lovely person.  We felt well looked after.  The spa itself is excellent and the waters certainly had a beneficial effect.  The range of treatments is on the whole very good.  I liked the Thai massage and the masseurs on the whole were also very good.   The beauty salon is also excellent.  I had a great facial with a lovely girl. Please pass on our thanks to the Management there if you think it is appropriate.
Public transport was excellent and I used all of it – tram, metro and bus and enjoyed that.  So easy to get around.  Everyone was so helpful and kind and pro English it seemed.
