Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz
Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz Details
Location
Located on the sleepy island of Gozo, Malta's little sister island. The rugged island is covered in lush vegetation with dramatic cliffs. The resort which is low rise and built entirely from Maltese limestone is situated in a valley in the West of the island close to the little village of San Lawrenz. It is close to the coast where you can get to easily using the free shuttle bus which operates throughout the day.
Transfer Time - 90 minutes from Malta airport by car and ferry
Rooms
There are 122 rooms, all of them very spacious and with private balconies. Decorated in a rustic Maltese style with cool limewashed walls. Choose between Superior, Premium and Junior Suites.
Food
Unsurprisingly the main L'Ortolan restaurants offers fresh Mediterranean dishes using fresh local ingredients many from the hotel's own garden. If you are on an Ayurvedic programme, balanced Ayurvedic meals are served to supplement your treatment programme. If you want lighter spa meals, let us know in advance and we can arrange for the chef to talk to you about the best options. If you don't plan to go out and about, we recommend taking a half board option as meals can be quite pricey and add up on your check out bill.
Fitness and Daily Activities
Yoga, pilates and acqua aerobics classes operate weekly at a small cost. Wellbeing Escapes guests on an Ayurvedic programme will have daily yoga classes included in their package. There are tennis and squash courts and a gym with the standard equipment. Ask the concierge to supply you with information on trails around the resort where you can jog or hike and enjoy the spectacular landscape. Bikes are also available for hire with or without a guide!
Other activities
Gozo is known as a good Mediterranean dive spot and the Dive Centre can organise your dives based on your experience. The hotel can also arrange for you to spend a day with a traditional and authentic Gozitan farmer or fisherman, experiencing their way of life and sharing meals with the families.

Holiday insider tips
Wellness Approach
- A large part of the spa is dedicated to Ayurveda with a qualified Ayurvedic Doctor and therapists trained in Kerala, India. Established as one of the best and most authentic Ayurvedic spas in Europe with treatment plans individualised to your personal needs and Ayurvedic constitution. The spa also has a section that specialises in marine treatments, inlcuding massages, balneo baths and vichy water showers in addition to beauty offerings such as facials, manicures & pedicures.
Freestyle Spa
- Steam Room and Sauna in the spa and an indoor heated pool and jacuzzi with a relaxation area.
Signature Treatment
Chavitti Thirummu. A specialist Ayurvedic treatment where herbal medicated oil is applied all over the body and a massage is given with the therapists feet, whilst they hang on a rope. This is an exceptional treatment where you can get the longest sweeping massage stroke, from the tips of your fingers to your toes. Fantastic for spinal correction but can only be applied by a qualified Ayurvedic therapist.
We Love
- The Ayurvedic chef from India who makes individual meals for your dosha as prescribed by the Doctor.
- The Ayurvedia Bath where after a massage and body scrub you soak in a warm bath full of seasonal flowers and herbs.
Return on Investment

Icannot commend the Kempinski and the Ayeuveda centre enough - so much so I have been there twice in six months.
I had back surgery early last year so I needed some extra care with my lower back as well as a kick start to a new regieme. The hotel is understated luxury and the staff are friendly and efficient. I have travelled around the world and stayed in various hotels and I must say that this hotel is one of the best and I recommend it., The staf, the accommodation, the food and treatments were second to none. The Indian therapists were so wonderful with their healing hands and massages and treatments. I have been relieved of back pain. Gozo is quieter than main Malta and the sun didn;t stop smiling. Wonderful..The indoor spa was great too - though the gym equipment needed replacing (runners) and I so wanted a cross trainer...apart from that it was heaven
