Why are your feet sensitive?
Interview with Heather Coombs, Leading Reflexologist
| We have known about Heather’s reputation as a gifted reflexologist for a while but ironically experienced her magic touch at Chiva Som in Thailand where she works as a Visiting Consultant twice a year. We were inspired to find out more about Heather and spread the word on this powerful and extremely effective therapy highlighting the differences with normal foot massages that are now so widely available. |
What’s the difference between a reflexology session and a foot massage that you can get at so many spas?
Foot massage at a spa is more superficial and offers a temporary relaxation more suited to those seeking a pampering experience. Reflexology however, works by stimulating specific reflex points on the feet or hands to unblock vital energy pathways and encourage the body to heal itself. It is thought to be an excellent preventative treatment for common health conditions.
Most conditions respond well to reflexology, these are a few:- Allergies, Anxiety and stress, Arthritis, Asthma, Back problems, Circulatory disorders, Cystitis, Candida, Digestive disorders, Headaches and Migraines, Insomnia, Liver disorders, Menstrual and Hormone problems, Sinusitis, Shoulder problems, Tension, and Urinary and Kidney disorders.
How can regular reflexology sessions benefit your general wellbeing?
Your body’s own healing capacity can be weakened by the stresses, physical and emotional it encounters every day. As a consequence its natural resilience to illness is reduced. Reflexology treatment helps to restore your body’s power to heal itself. Treatment can bring relief to many conditions, by stimulating and balancing the whole body.
How long have you been practicing reflexology?
Fourteen years. Following years as a successful
psychotherapist I discovered that reflexology was the perfect link and
therapeutic tool to help restore function and balance to my client’s
physical, emotional and well-being.
I studied at The Philip Salmon school of reflexology. The course is very thorough and world renowned in the field of reflexology. The MAR means I have qualified at the highest level in the UK and am accredited by the Association of Reflexologists.
How can you stand touching feet all day?
The appearance of different peoples feet don’t really
affect me, because I’m working on a much deeper level where I’m
visualising the different organs, glands, nerves and tendons relating
to the reflex points on the feet.
