The Macrobiotic Spa
WHAT’S IT LIKE?
Set in quiet hills near Valencia, this is Europe’s first macrobiotic spa. A touristic medical retreat, its 93 ultra-modern suites overlook the dramatic Albir mountains.
WHAT’S THE USP?
The focus is on diet. Dairy, sugar and meet are out; healing foods like vegetables, wholegrains and bans are in.
HOW GOOD WAS IT?
Staff create bespoke programmes to balance body, mind and spirit, with instructions on diet, genetics and lifestyle. Meals are surprisingly delicious and free time can be spent in the aqua-lab (floatarium, hydrotherapies, sauna) or gym.
WHAT DID YOU HAVE?
After consultations with specialist in anti-aging, macrobiotics, and aesthetic medicine, I had a cortisone injection for acne, a deep-tissue massage, Reiki and daily tai chi and yoga classes.
BEST FOR?
Seriously reassessing your lifestyle and wellbeing.
WAS IT WORTH IT?
Definitely! It’s pricey, but I was converted.
