Spa Holidays Prep
Reduce Pre Holiday Stress
Do NOT try and leave your home spotless before you go on your spa holiday. Yes it’s nice to come back to a clean place but it doesn’t need to look like a show home! Ditto with the laundry – just launder all the clothes you want to take with you.
Meals
Try to eat last meal of the day by 7pm and make it low in carbs – allows your digestive system time to work before bedtime, resulting in better quality sleep – this is good for people who push themselves with extra workload before leaving for their spa holiday, and arrive exhausted, wasting the first few days of their holiday just recovering.
Mosquito Repellent
Take Vitamin B complex supplements a month before you depart on your spa holiday – this will help repel the mozzies and avoid eating food with high potassium levels (such as bananas) as this attracts them,. Take some essential oils with you (lemongrass or citronella are good repellents)
Insect Bites
Organic Lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia) takes away the sting and soothes the itching
Sunburn
Pure Aloe Vera Gel is an excellent soother for sunburnt skin
Pack Lite
It is quite usual to be provided with “spa wear” at Destination Spas for you to lounge around in, wear to holistic classes or take to the spa. These garments are comfortable and practical eg Indian Kurta Pyjamas or Thai Fisherman Pants and top, with fresh sets provided each day, so you don’t have the stress of what to wear each day, blend with your fellow guests, avoid getting your own clothes stained with massage oil, and best of all, you can travel light, packing only the essentials. Look out for the Pack Lite symbol in the Location section of the packages to see if this applies.
Jet Lag
Get some sun on the back of your knees when you arrive and drinking lots of water will help minimise impact
